RPH Research Foundation’s Research Symposium & Awards Day 2021, showcased some of Western Australia’s brightest rising stars of medical research. Thanks to the generous support of Business Events Perth, our flagship event for 2021 was even bigger and better than anticipated. Business Events Perth's inaugural sponsorship lifted the Symposium’s level of professionalism and helped us to attract a wider range of stakeholders and guests. In times such as these, medical research and those who support the field are as vital as ever. We at the Foundation look forward to future collaborations with Business Events Perth and to continue to promote Western Australia’s talented researchers together.

2020 was a very challenging year for our organisation – Australia China Business Council WA – particularly as the focus of our membership activities is holding high level and themed events that pivot the Australia China business relationship. All of our activities were cancelled in 2020 until on 9th October, we were able to hold one of our flagship events, China National Day. We were able to host this event, attended by the Hon Minister for Asian Engagement, Peter Tinley MLA and the Acting Consul General of the PR of China, Madam Jin Qian, given the support by Business Events Perth. BE Perth was extremely prompt in assisting us with our application for support and explain clearly how our event met the criteria to enable us to be successful in the application. BE Perth’s support was critical in ensuring that we were able to hold our important event and engage with critical stakeholders in the Australia China business and trade environment. Our event pictures and videos were streamed across the Eastern States and also by Phoenix TV in Beijing and Shanghai, which also helped to promote Perth and project positive messages of bilateral engagement. I have worked with Business Events Perth over many years and have found their advice and expertise invaluable. No matter which team member I deal with, they are across my events and respond immediately. I run academic conferences and BE Perth have helped me write and win bids for many national and international conferences. Their funding support provides critical start-up capital to begin the process without which, I would not be able to run most of the conferences. They advise on and work with venues and suppliers to get me the best prices, which reduces my workload considerably. They provide stunning visuals to promote the conferences and highlight Perth and WA as a highly desirable place to come for a conference and stay for a holiday. This has proved very attractive to international researchers. I strongly recommend Business Events Perth and consider them critical to my operations.

We probably wouldn’t have held our event without the support of Business Events Perth. Everything was so unknown last year, so having the confidence to proceed knowing that we had a little bit of funding absolutely helped, and ensured the success of the event.

The post-conference delegate survey for the Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference 2020 rated Margaret River HEART very favourably, with 96 per cent of in-person attendees noting the host venue as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. This evaluation was higher than for any previous Global Eco Conferences staged in the 13-year period the survey has been conducted. Its state-of-the-art facilities, multiple rooms and spaces provided a high level of flexibility. The audio, lighting and seating is of an excellent standard and the building itself is set within a beautiful native landscaped garden, providing delegates with extremely pleasant surroundings, and great natural light and open spaces. In conducting both a live and online conference concurrently (including breakout sessions using solely online speakers) the technical staff at HEART were superb.

The support provided by Business Events Perth was instrumental in the development of the TEDxUWA 2020 conference. After facing a year of disruption and change where we had to pivot to virtual events, we were very grateful to be in WA where the restrictions eased towards the end of the year and we could host on-site events with live audiences again. That being said, a whole new set of challenges emerged as we began transitioning back to a physical events management process. The BEP team were readily available to provide support across various aspects, without their assistance TEDxUWA 2020 would not have been the great success it was. Thank you BEP and we look forward to working again in the future.
