Perth, Western Australia, 25 – 29 November
This week marks the start of the inaugural Western Australia Space Week, a landmark event featuring three major international space conferences that are set to propel WA into the global space industry spotlight.
The week-long event includes the Australian Space Education Forum (ASEF), the 2024 Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference (2024 IPSEC), and the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF), making it a pivotal moment for the State’s growing role in space exploration and technology.
The Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum will hold its 30th annual session, APRSAF-30, in Perth, Australia from 26-29 November 2024.
The theme for APRSAF-30 is “Collaborating to Build a Sustainable and Responsible Regional Space Sector”
Meanwhile, IPSEC builds on the success of last year’s conference, which brought together over 400 delegates from 12 countries.
This year, the conference will feature three distinguished astronauts: Katherine Bennell-Pegg, Australia’s first female astronaut; Dr. Shawna Pandya, Canada’s first female astronaut; and Koichi Wakata, Japan’s astronaut.
In addition, representatives from NASA will be in attendance and will deliver speeches.
The conference continues to foster international collaboration, providing a platform for global experts to share insights, explore new technologies, and promote cross-sector opportunities between space and industries like resources, energy, and agriculture.
On Monday 25 November 2024, the Andy Thomas Space Foundation will conduct the first Australian Space Education Forum, focusing on Space and STEM Education, aiming to inspire today’s students to become tomorrow’s space workforce leaders.
Business Events Perth, CEO Gareth Martin said we are proud to support Western Australia Space Week and showcase the State as a premier destination for business events that spotlight Western Australia’s key priority sectors – in line with the WA Space Industry Strategy released by the WA State Government earlier this month.
“Western Australia’s world-class facilities, cutting-edge research, and strategic location make it the perfect setting for bringing together global leaders and innovators in the growing space sector.
“Through working with the WA Government to secure the 30th Asia Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum, as well as attracting the Andy Thomas Space Conference and directly supporting the co-located 2nd Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference; WA Space Week highlights our commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation while positioning Western Australia as a leading destination for global business events.”
Western Australia, known for its breathtaking landscapes and vast open spaces, provides the perfect backdrop for this groundbreaking week.
As the State continues to position itself as a hub for space operations and technology transfer, delegates will have the opportunity to engage with leading experts, participate in technical tours, and expand their professional networks in a region rich with potential.
