EXECUTIVE TEAM
GARETH MARTIN Chief Executive Officer
Gareth is proud to call Perth home and is a passionate advocate for Western Australia, with more than 14 years in senior executive roles at the organisation promoting WA as a leading destination for business events. Gareth was appointed CEO in 2019 and is focused on working collaboratively with key stakeholders, clients and member partners to drive strong outcomes for the WA business events sector. Gareth’s spare time is spent with his family creating memories on new adventures exploring WA and its vast natural landscapes.
Paige Newman Executive Assistant to the CEO
Paige joined the Business Events Perth team in 2022, where she initially managed confirmed business events and coordinated numerous famils and site inspections across the State. In her current role, she provides executive support to CEO Gareth Martin and works closely with the Board, providing administrative support. With a deep passion for promoting Western Australia, Paige is an advocate for the State's diverse offerings — from its world-class food and wine to its stunning natural landscapes and pristine coastlines. Outside of work, Paige enjoys traveling the globe and staying active with a friendly game of beach volleyball.
TRISH MCKAY Director Corporate Services | Company Secretary
As Director Corporate Services and Company Secretary, Trish oversees the organisation’s financial management, corporate governance, and human resources. Her responsibilities include organisation operations, staff training and development, and ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and board reporting requirements. An industry all-rounder, she brings extensive experience across tourism and hospitality, having worked with professional conference organisers and in hotel sales and operations before joining BE Perth. Her depth of knowledge and leadership play a critical role in supporting the organisation’s corporate strategy, operational excellence, and governance standards. Outside of work, Trish enjoys travelling and spending time with her family, with a personal ambition to see all Seven Wonders of the World.
Jade Riolo Director Business Development - Associations
As Director Business Development, Associations, alongside Sarah and Alex, Jade is part of Business Events Perth's core business unit. Having previously worked as a Professional Conference Organiser and in-house Event Manager for 13 years, Jade uses her extensive experience to lead the team with Sarah in securing association business events. In her spare time Jade enjoys travelling and trying out new restaurants and wine bars.
Alex Ng Director Business Development - Corporate & Incentive
Originally hailing from Singapore, Alex Ng joined Business Events Perth in 2019 as a Senior Business Development Manager and a member of the Corporate & Incentive team with a particular focus on South East Asia. Alex’s background includes over a decade of experience with Singapore Airlines, the last being as Manager Western Australia, and a stint thereafter as an Inbound Tour Operator in Perth. He is passionate about promoting Western Australia as a premium destination for corporate meeting and incentive business and looks forward to welcoming visitors from all over Asia to enjoy WA’s gourmet food and wine, friendly people, wildlife, beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets while hosting their business events.
MITCHEL MCCUISH Director Marketing and Engagement
Mitchel leads the organisation’s marketing, communications, client engagement, and membership. He oversees a team that positions Perth and Western Australia as globally competitive destinations for business events through stakeholder engagement, client development, campaigns, content, and industry education. With a focus on brand positioning, reputation building, lead generation, and event conversion, he directs initiatives across digital platforms, social content, membership engagement, industry development, and familiarisation programs, all aligned with organisational and sector-wide priorities. Mitchel has been with BE Perth for over a decade, holding roles in bidding, communications, and marketing before becoming Director Marketing in 2022.
