Kaya,
The past few weeks have been a busy and exciting time for Business Events Perth.
We have hosted two high profile international familiarisation tours, inviting key business event organisers and corporate clients to rediscover Western Australia. The groups explored some of Perth’s iconic venues and sites, from the Swan Valley to our iconic port city Fremantle, which was recently awarded one of TIME magazine’s top 50 greatest places in the world!
Following this, we hosted our annual Platinum Members function at Optus Stadium. A special thank you to Nick Abraham, owner and lead guide from Warrang-Bridil who opened the event with a moving Welcome to Country, and our guest speakers the Hon Roger Cook MLA Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism; Robin Mack, Executive General Manager Commercial & Business Events Australia / Tourism Australia and Business Events Perth Chair Bradley Woods.
Thank you to all our VIP guests in attendance, including Tourism Western Australia Chair Di Bain, Tourism Western Australia Managing Director Carolyn Turnbull, City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, City of Perth Chief Executive Officer Michelle Reynolds and City of Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge. A big thank you to Mike McKenna, Craig Menzies, Nadia Owen and the team at Optus Stadium for hosting us!
With our emphasis toward Diversify WA, I am pleased to announce we have appointed Michael Altieri as Executive Director Strategic Projects. Michael has over thirty years’ experience in the business events sector and will lead the development of BE Perth’s new strategic business unit. This will target industry growth by staging strategic sector events that unlock State potential and grow Western Australia’s profile as a pre-eminent business events destination.
Finally, a huge week for Tourism WA with the launch of their new brand on Tuesday 6 September. I’d like to congratulate the Tourism WA team on the launch of the new global brand, 'Western Australia. Walking on a Dream'. The global brand embodies the deep stories and dreaming of our beautiful state. It’s a story of connecting together and to this Country, that encourages seeking time, space, freedom and connection.
Head over to our social media pages to catch some imagery of our recent activities and follow to stay up to date as we continue to promote Western Australia’s business events offering on the global stage.
